Hmm, after trying to sort this out I seem to have managed to get OE6
to send email via my POP3 access to Yahoo Mail, but now it seems not
to want to recieve mail sent through it. This is the error message I
get:

Unable to logon to the server using Secure Password Authentication.
Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol:
POP3, Server Response: '-ERR popgate unknown command', Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong here?

Yep. *Vanguard* nailed it in one. Look at the list; does it not include the
following item?

Secure(SSL): No,

The account doesn't expect a Secure Pasword Authentication; doesn't even
know what to do with it. Only use SPA if your ISP tells you that you have
to, or if you see this in the error message:

Secure(SSL): Yes,

You sure the SPA (secure password authentication) option needs to be
enabled in the e-mail account of OE? I saw nothing at
http://snipurl.com/yahoomail_setup about having to enable SPA.

0x800CCC18 SICILY_LOGON_FAILED Logon attempt failed.

Are you a SBC/Yahoo subscriber? See
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/pop/pop-03.html.

If not, you can't access your Yahoo account in OE without paying Yahoo for
the privilege. However, you do have
http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/index.php

From the O.P.'s article headers:
NNTP-Posting-Host: 80.43.122.39

I believe one of the U.K. ISP's has a similar deal to SBC Global's contract
with Yahoo! to provide email service to the ISP's customers. I don't know if
that is Tiscali, U.K., or some other provider.

Sorry to reply twice, but I should have remembered to do this the first
time. The O.P. has posted an earlier article; Message-ID:
, with the Subject: POP3
Access via Yahoo Mail! and OE 6. In it he specifically states that he has
signed up for Yahoo! Plus. I still think it looks like he was trying to use
Secure Password Authentication over a non-SSL connection.
