Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsnt>domain (more info?)

I am trying to make a trust between an NT and 2003 domain.
So far I am able to make the trust that I can browse from the NT domain
(from the NT server itself) onto the 2003.

I used netdom on 2003 to make the trust in order to prevent SID filtering.
netdom trust <2k3 dom> /domain:<nt dom> /quarantine:no /UserD:<admin nt>
/PasswordD:<pwd nt> /UserO:<admin 2k3> /PasswordO:<pwd 2k3> /PasswordT:<pwd
trust> /Twoway /add

I get the message that the trust is created with SID filtering on.
I the same command again but without /add this time and I get the message
that the trust is adjusted to SID filter off.

But when I try to add the 2003 to the "trusted" list on NT I constantly get
the message:
"The password is incorrect."

In "Trusting domains" I used the same trust password as I used on the 2003
server.

I take it that it has to be possible to create a twoway trust between them,
but I am at a lose on how the get over this password message.
Any ideas or websites that would cover this?

Thank you for your time.

Hi Sebastiaan,

Have you seen the following::

Hadn't looked at that.

Trust is now set up, but now the messages about "no logonserver is
available" pop up.

How great 2000/2003 is compared to NT (when it comes to changing your
networksettings).
- change an outdated DNS entry, reboot.
- add WINS entry, reboot.

Those were the good old days. ~_^
And while it is the PDC, it's only used as main fileserver.

Hopefully this is properly work tomorrow.

Thanks for the pointer to the KB.
