Archived from groups: microsoft>public>win98>apps, others (more info?)

Whenever I insert a CD into my Win 98 laptop it always launches Wndows Media
Player. How can I change this so that the CD Player app launches instead? I
have a older laptop (only 266mhz) and Media Player takes much longer to load
than the CD Playing app that Windows 9.x shipped with, which is absent from
XP.

I am using the latets version of Windows Media Player for Windows 98 I
believe its very 9.

Thanks,

John

You go to folder options, click on file types and search for an entry
named 'Audio-CD'. Double click on it. In the next window, you click on
the bold entry and then on edit. There you type in the new app and click ok.

Open Windows Media Player.
Click the Tools menu> Options> File Types tab.
Uncheck the box for Music CD Playback, and click Apply, then OK.
Close Media Player.
