Hi There,

I've got a PNY graphic card with 2 monitors and i am on "Large view"
(2048*768)
When I play a video (with WMP for example) and put it in full screen, I've
got the half of the video on on screen and on the other one : blank ...
Nothing...

It works already, but don't know how.

Is there a way to make the video to work on both screens ?

Thanks for your answers.
Nic.

If you don't have this problem with other applications such as your word
processor or your web browser, then it's likely a feature of the video
player. For instance, it may have decided that video should not be split
across two screens (like some games do)

I use Windows Media Player and it plays videos across two monitors just fine
(although they look a little odd with a gap down the middle.).

If you are using a display manager provided by PNY you could disable it and
use the W98 built-in multi-monitor function.

Thanks for your reply Jeff,

You're right, other applications are working well like this.
I am using WMP but tried with J.River Media Center, Divx player, etc... and
i've got the same prob.
I will try anyway to disable the PNY manager.

Thanks.

Nic.

Nic,

In my experience video will only play across both (or more) screens if
you are using a software renderer. If you are using hardware
acceleration (even just overlays) then they can not work across multiple
screens.

There used to be a player that would switch to software rendering
automaticall but I can't remember what it was called I'm afraid, but I
can tell you it wasn't Zoom Player (my prefered option) or VLC.

This may be different for professsional cards which have better support
or in situations where Windows is being tricked by the video driver into
only seeing one monitor (e.g. nVidia's nView software) but I have
limited experience with such setups.

Peace,
Neil

This is a common problem. Video resolution is tricky, so you have to have a special media player. The one I use is called MatrixDVD and they have a free version where you can test it out. It just has their logo in the top right corner until you pay. Here's where you can get it:

I saw this post on another topic and thought it fit here as well. Multiple Monitors are getting very popular and it's good for people to know how to set them up for productivity!

The Three main ways to Setup Multiple Monitors

1) You can buy a pre-manufactured multi-monitor computer. The best place to purchase a multiple monitor computer is at:
Multi-Monitors.com. They carry a multi-monitor computer line called SUPER-PC that can support from 2 to 12 monitors.

Multi-Screen Computer Systems

Multiple Monitor LCD Displays

2) You can get a USB to VGA Adapter, or USB to DVI Adapter that will allow you to add an extra monitor to your computer
via any USB2.0 Port. You can also add multiple extra monitors by using multiple adapters. This is a great option for viewing
documents, surfing the web, using Microsoft Office and many other business tasks. This is not a good option for intense
graphical situations such as HDTV, Blu-ray, Gaming and 3D / CAD Workstation applications. For those types of scenarios,
it is highly recommended that you purchase a high-powered multi-monitor workstation or a Matrox Dual or Triple Head2Go.

Multiple Monitor Adapters

3) You can replace or add an extra video card to your existing computer, depending on how many monitors you wish to support. Although this sounds easy enough, this is a rather complex solution for a beginner, especially when trying to find a compatible graphics card. For this reason, I am going to write an entirely seperate post on that topic and will link to it here, very soon.

Multi-Monitor Graphics Cards

Once you have your multiple monitor system set up and ready to use, you will need to enable all of your monitors in
your “Display Properties” Control Panel. Here is a great link to a complete and animated walkthrough of how to enable
your multiple monitors in Windows.

This is what it will look like when you are done:
