| I installed a PCI card with a usb port into my computer (windows me system), and the computer seems to recognize the port properly. (It shows up in the device manager, and under properties it says the device is working properly). But the computer doesn't recognize anything I plug into the port - nothing happens at all. Any idea what might be the problem? Thanks for any help.

| Hello mrothstein and welcome to Lockergnome!
Do you get a resource/device conflict after you plug a device in?

Hi Zeus,
As far as I know I don't get a conflict or any other kind of error. Unless I'm missing something, the computer acts as if nothing has been plugged into the port. I initially assumed the port had not been installed correctly, until I checked that it appears in the device manager as working properly. (And I know it's not what I'm trying to plug in, because the drive shows up fine when I plug it into my older 1.1 port).
Thanks |

Do any USB devices work when plugged in to that card?
If not then it could well be a dodgy card. |

| I've tried two, and neither works. You may be right, it may just be a bad card. Thanks. |
