I ran into a problem the other day where I couldn't install Windows XP
because the HP laptop had a SATA hard disk drive (HDD) that XP could not
recognize. I had to purchase an archaic 1.44MB USB diskette reader to
preload the drivers via the F6 (load drivers) option of the XP install
routine.

Is there a utility that can convert a flash memory device such as a SanDisk
USB Flash Drive to emulate a USB diskette machine? Or must I keep luging
around this USB floppy drive

Yes, you have to follow this step.

Thanks.

I have an alternative to use instead of your "archaic 1.44".

Its a 3 1/2 floppy drive to USB port. Would have really speed things up too
