Hi there,
(Cross posted to Active Directory section as most people will have dealt
with this in the past)

I'm not too up on the NT stuff.

We have an NT domain (100 users) that has a PDC and a BDC.

We need to move the BDC to a new switch. Is there any problems in doing
this? I simply will unplug from switch, plug in new switch? Do i need to
worry about any of it? Can i do this during the day? will it affect
anything?

Also we will at some point need to do the same for the PDC. I'm guessing out
of hours for this one?

Thanks

Other than losing the BDC as an authenticator during the swap over there
is not significant disadvantage. Your unlikely to be able to even notice
this
with 100 users.

Not really, unless it is going to be down for more than a few minutes.

This should be no worse than rebooting the PDC when you update hotfixes.

BTW: It's (past) time to upgrade to a modern OS.

I agree with Herb. One thing I will say is if the PDC is going to be down a
while, promote the BDC to PDC before you power off the PDC.

Yes, I wish I had mentioned that last -- IF you are taking down the
PDC for more than a reboot or you are not CERTAIN it will be back,
then Promote the BDC to PDC before you begin.

Should that not be "upgrade to a more reliable OS"? Smile

Yes, I know it may be hard to find one Wink
