Does anyone know how to start Windows 98 standard edition in Safe Mode?

Reboot while holding down the appropriate key --
usually either F8 or Ctrl. (You can also use
MSCONFIG to present a menu of options at boot.)

Try tapping the F8 key repeatedly during bootup.

first panel = General
select button ADVANCED
select menu item

Holding down the F8 key will most likely produce a Stuck Key error, consistently tapping it is what's needed.
