SCANDISK & DEFRAG DENIED SAYS WINDOWS RUNNING

DEFRAG & SCAN EVEY FEW MONTHS. SUDDENLY MESSAGE SAYS DENIED WINDOWS IS
RUNNING. EVERY THING IS SHUT DOWN-EX: SCREENSAVER ECT. SCANDISK SAYS CANNOT
FIX ERRORS WINDOWS DENIED ACCESS?/OR SIMILIAR MESSAGE CAN'T REMEMBER EXACTLY

It would help if you could <g> and it would help even further if you turned
your Caps-Lock off. (It's considered as SHOUTING!)

First thing you could try is to run Scandisk (and then Defrag) in Safe Mode.

To boot into Safe Mode :- Ctrl or F8 key during boot-up.

See if things work OK in Safe Mode and then report back - someone here
should be able to advise further.

I found another answer from someone else's question. I downloaded a new
defrag sytem( that is free and developed for us poor saps with windows ME and
older. I t worked great, it evan shuts your screensaver down for you. If some
one else would like to try this let me know and i'll look it up and post it.
sorry if you think i'am shouting at you, but i have a hard time seeing what
i'am typing in lower case. thanks for your help!

Presumably, that other 'defrag system' was a utility called "ScanDefrag
v5.4" or similar. If so, that would have been my recommended course of
action, once you had confirmed that Scandisk (and Defrag) had both worked OK
in Safe Mode.

Anyway, I'm pleased to hear that you've now got your computer working again
