Renaming long file names

I have a rather perplexing dilemma. I am trying to delete
3 files/folders. I click on Delete, message box says;
Error Deleting File or Folder---Cannot delete file. The
filename you specified is invalid or too long. Specify a
different filename. I have tried to rename both the file
(s) and folder(s) to no avail. I keep getting the same
Error Message. Please help, this is running both my wife
and myself bonkers.

Mel, take a look at:-

and try to apply the concept to deleting folder/files in Real Mode DOS using
your WinMe Startup (floppy) Disk.

Reboot with your start-up disk and delete at the prompt.
