| I'm running '95B on a computer that that '98 installed when I bought it
second hand. It has been fine for a year, but just now started detecting a
PCI Universal Serial Bus for which it can't find drivers, of course. What's
strange is I don't see any USB ports on the computer. How can Windows be
finding USB if I can't see ports? The motherboard is so old it has an AT
keyboard connector.

I used to have an AT computer and it had USB ports on the moterboard that
required an adaptor as well as a PS/2 connector only for a mouse. If you go
to BIOS setup, you might find USB enabling or disabling in the Plug-and-Play
peripherals section. By now, you should know that true USB support is
available in Win 98SE or later OS.

Well, I looked in the BIOS setup and found a page for PnP with no mention of
USB. Another page has Enable/Disable USB Keyboard. I'm curious about the
motherboard but not curious enough to go to the trouble of opening the
thing. I'm gonna let the USB remain uninstalled.
Last month I tried changing the BIOS to boot from 5.25" B: instead of 3.5"
A: Something went wrong and I had to set the BIOS to rediscover peripherals
and that's when it found USB. Today I found Swap Floppies which is what I
needed last month. Wouldn't you just know it.

If you keep looking, you will see the option for USB support...
however , unless you want USB it 's not going to matter |
