When I visit the Microsoft Windows Update page and perform the system scan,
the only missing Critical Update is KB828026.

I have tried many times to install this script commands security update for
Windows Media Player 9. Each time I get the confirmation message that the
install was successful. But invariably the next time I checkin at this
site, I get a repeat notice to re-install KB828026.
What can I do to perform the installation, so that it takes.
The McAfee Anti Virus reports no viruses.
ZoneAlarm Pro reports no spyware.

1. Boot into Safe Mode.
2. Search for any and all WMP or WMP.DLL files and delete them (in my
case there was only one).
3. Re-boot into Normal Mode.
4. Re-download WMP9 and then KB828026.
5. Re-boot.
6. Check to see if update was offered again (it wasn't).
Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem.

I found that your fix also works for a media player that won't load at all; I
had been receiving "internal application error" every time I tried to load
it. my WMP 9 is fine, now, ty.
