First, I use IE7, but am unable to find any IE7 newsgroups. Also, this
problem existed when I ran IE6. Please read on

Occasionally I have a web site tell me that I don't have Javascript.
Certainly, some sites - for example, the BBC News website's soccer scores
videprinter (ticker), which is meant to refgresh with new scores every 2
minutes (I assume this is a javascript function) needs to be manually
refreshed. Similarly, Panda' Active Scan web virus and spyware scan just
hangs when it starts, as do a few other sites.

I am sure I have a problem with Javascript, but uninstalling and
reinstalling IE7 makes no difference; I am pretty sure that my script
settings in IE/Tools/Options/Security are just fine. It doesn't seem that one
can reinstall Javascript for IE.

I've even tried SFC using the SCANNOW option to try to resolve this. To no
avail.

What's happening, and how can I fix this?

Thanks

Please try the IE7 group.
The recommended newsgroup is microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

In a proper newsreader:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

If you must use a web interface:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=...rosoft.

I'll also note that my post says that this is a problem in IE6 as well.

Next? Please try the IE7 group as suggested. The web interface link to
the IE7 group is in my previous response.

Yes, I noticed that but I still think you are better off at the IE7
group or perhaps even the IE6 browser group. This is not a setup
problem and you will get more traffic at the other groups.
