I am going to buy a new computer which is VISTA ready.
As I still would like to install windows 2000 as its operating system, I
would like to know if there would install problem for this newer generation
of hardware, say eSATA, Firewire, DVD burner etc.

Best regards

Since HW drivers are supplied by hw manufacturers you would have to check
for availability on their sites.
If you are purchasing from a major OEM, eg Dell, Sony etc you would need to
check their sites

Its a very bad idea to rely on MS updates for hw drivers
Presumably your new PC will have a version of Winxp installed; you can
update to Vista from this, but an update from Win2k requires a clean install

Basically...you will need to go to the site of the H/W mfg's and see if they
have win2k drivers avail.
If win2k drivers are not avail...an XP driver will probably work...but there
is no guarantee of course.
The biggest problem may be the chipset drivers...and without them you will
surely have problems.
