Hello,
I bought over ebay an older notebook (Toshiba Satellite 4000 CDS) with
Windows 98 SE installed. The system runs but needs to be "cleaned up".
The best way would be to install Win 98 completely new. I have a
CD+Key+Start-Disk but I don't know if I would need special drivers for
the hard-disk, disk-drive, cd-drive or monitor. Or is their a way, that
the already installed drivers can be used again? Toshiba only offers a
download for the BIOS. On the other hand I know that certain drivers are
on the Win 98 CD. Does anybody has experience with such a problem? Or
any recommendation?
Thanks a lot!

You might try posting to a Toshiba or a Windows 98 newsgroup.
news:japan.comp.toshiba
news:alt.windows98
news:microsoft.public.win98.setup

Save the contents of the Windows\Inf and Windows\System32\Drivers
folders on a CD-R, USB drive, etc. If Windows 98 can't find a driver
after installation, tell it to look in those folders.

Thanks Steve, that was a great advise. I got the job done very well!

| You should not have any problem reinstalling you Win.98se. I have installed Win. 98 in so many computers, I never had a problem with drivers. Although you will need to download the drivers for that notebook, such as audio video, and so on. Remember once you reinstall your system again, anything left on your hard drive will be deleted. |
