Please - could someone point me in the right direction?

At HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WinTrust\Trust
Providers\Software Publishing is the dword State and it is set to 0x00043c00
which according to SPats blog
http://blogs.msdn.com/spatdsg/archive/2006/06/05/618082.aspx
means "allow only items in personal trust database".

I want to reset the value to 0x00023c00 but I don't know where this value is
configured.

Hello,

Thanks for posting here.

My name is Helen and I am happy to receive your post. From the problem
description of the post you submitted, my understanding is: you want to
know how to set the key dword State 0x00023c00 at
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WinTrust\Trust
Providers\Software Publishing.

Per tests on my side, we can manully set the Base as Hexadecimal and change
the value to 23c00.

Could you please confirm which operating system you use?

If there is any concerns and questions on the above, please feel free to
let me know.

Regards,

Helen Li

Hello,

The issue is finding what is the source that is setting this value. My
guess is that it appears either IEAK and/or GPO has set this value but I have
been unable to find enough info on the topic of this registry key.

I realize I could set the registry value directly but then IEAK/GPO could
reset it later and I think the help desk would hunt me down if it isn't
stable Smile

We use Windows XP clients.

Thank you

Hello,

Thanks for your clarification!

Under this situation, please confirm the following information:

1. Is this key always changed after resetting it to 23c00?
2. What do you mean by "help desk"? Do you mean you have already contacted
local Microsoft Customer Service and Support?
