Does anybody know a step-by-step way of formatting a HDD and installing
Windows 98SE
I got the HDD already formated, but when I go to install Windows 98SE it
gets to the last 16 mins. of the final set-up,and it takes forever for
it to do anything,it just quits. Anybody know anything about this
problme,please help!

It appears you have the disk partitioned and formatted ok. If not setup
would not start in the first place.

Here is a microsoft article if you can get this far:
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;194721&spid=1139&sid=312

Typically that used to be during hardware detection process. Your not
mentioning any error codes or messages. What I would try is the following.
When setup appears to hang (give it ample time not just a few minutes).
Then, restart setup by just pushing the soft reset button. Setup will
restart and often it will bypass the cause of the problem. If it was
hardware you will hover to deal with it after the operating system is
installed.
