Deleting a file after it has been sent to the spooler

Hey all,
Can you immediately delete a file after it has been sent to the
printer and is in line in the queue and will it still print? It
appears that you can, but I'm wondering if the printer runs out of
paper and isn't replaced for 10 minutes, will that (deleted) file
remain in the queue until its turn and then print correctly and
completely? Thanks in advance.

I forgot to mention, this pertains to win2000/XP, not 98

So long as you don't delete the print job, it will remain available almost
forever, including through a system restart. However, if you have sufficient
problems with the printer to require drastic solutions like
uninstalling/reinstalling, or switching to a different printer altogether,
you'll be SOL. I don't depend on the spooler, and wait to make sure I'm
*entirely* finished with the document before I delete it.
