A customer has had a mailbox.pst file somehow deleted on her FAT32 disc
drive. The customer did not delete the file and it did not pass through the
recycle bin... The system has antivirus on and is up to date, so I am at a
loss to understand how this has happened.

Before anyone asks, the person was unaware that she needed to backup the
file...

Does nayone know of any undelete utility that can recover files that have
had their size reset?

I have read through the descriptions of many of these utilities and as far
as I can see, none make mention of this scenario. I tried two separate
undelete utilities and both reported zero length before the undelete and
succeeded in recovering the file as zero length. I have a drive image of the
drive (full image, no compression with free space included).

Any help appreciated.

- Thanks.

Problem solved. Nortons had "deleted" the PST file thinking that because a
new email had arrived with a W32.mm style virus payload it should delete the
whole file... Tut tut tut. Remind me to send them an invoice.

I had a similar problem, I stuffed around for a day or so trying to get my files back and realised I was only making it worse. I bit the bullet and bought EASEUS DataRecoveryWizard that did the trick. It worked. Recovered almost everything.[/url]

Hi,

Well, I'm not pretty sure but Active@ Undelete or Uneraser (DOS) data recovery utils have really high chances to bring back data. As for me they never failed me in a simmilar situation so you should definately give it a try.
