I am trying to help someone with a Gateway laptop running Windows 2k
(I think NTFS-not sure)

Disk has plenty of free space left. Also there is plenty of memory.
She has Norton GoBack 3.0 installed. Disk is fragmented at 53%.

User ran Norton Defrag and it only helped fragmentation by 10%, down
to 43% (10%improvement)
User has Norton Goback 3.0 installed. Norton AV and Norton Internet
Security.

I am wondering if since Norton Goback is running if it is causing the
Norton Speed Disk defrag not to work properly??

She mentioned that about 10 files could not be defragged (Norton
listed this). I think one of them was Pagefile.sys. I wait on a list
of the others.

Thanks,
Patty

Hello

I think it is normal behaviour. Pagefile.sys is a swap file so cannot be
defragged when the windows is using it. There are third party tools out
there to defrag the memory and swap file.

Goback has to backup every change that defrag makes to the disk.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
