Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsnt>misc (more info?)

We had a new server installed some 7months ago at which time we
converted from all users from belonging to a workgroup to a domain.
When this was done I recall the tech guy going round each workstation
logging onto domain, changing a registry setting which enabled them to
retrieve the old settings they used to see when logging on as their
old logon when part of workgroup.
Does anyone ever remember using this tweak?
I need to add another pc to domain which didn't get done @ time of
change which currently has lots of programs we can't afford to loose
so really would appreciate if someone could help

Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)

Logon once to the new domain then run regedt32.exe and navigate to
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
locate the new profile SID and edit the Reg_Expand_Sz 'ProfileImagePath' to
point back to the old domain profile.
