Thanks for the heads-up Mart, I wasn't aware of that.
I thought it was only with LCD monitors.

Harry, unless you've got a faulty monitor (which is in doubt anyway!) or an
odd-ball make, all (CRT) monitors automatically degauss themselves on every
'cold' or 'warm' (return from standby) power-up. - If you listen carefully,
you may even hear the current surge through the degaussing coils immediately
the power is applied. - So it's very unlikely, unless you've got other
magnetic devices or fields close to your screen and/or you never down-power
your monitor) to be your problem.

As I already discovered, Mart, it didn't have any effect on the color
scheme.
For now I'm putting up with this 'minor inconvenience', until getting a
chance to obtain an LCD Monitor.

Degaussing is not going to cure you lack of red problem.
Heirloom, old and used to be done with a
large coil

CRT monitors have failure-over-time that resemble mechanical devices,
and that's because some factors are common to both:
- transisions between heat and cold
- mechanical tug on some components due to switching magnetic fields
So often, soldered joints can crack. When the monitor cools, the
metal surfaces may shrink away from each other, and when hot, they may
expand into contact. In practice, the pattern is usually more random
