I'm working on getting our DNS server to update automatically (or with
as little manual action as possible) when new printers are installed
on the print server.
We have a Windows 2000 server which has about 880 printers on it.
I was wondering if there was some sort of script that our DNS server
could use to reference our print server, look at all of the Local TCP/
IP ports it's using for printers and automatically put in new ones/
update old ones without someone having to manually key the changes.
Our DNS Server is a Windows 2003 Server; our print server is a Windows
2000 server. Not sure if that will cause any problems or not.

Thanks for any tips!

The easiest solution is to install DHCP on the Windows Server 2003 which can
register any type of DHCP client in DNS when you configure it with a user
account to authenticate with the DNS server, I have a Win2k3 DHCP server
that not only registers my printer, but it also registers my sons Xbox and
my DirecTV HDDVR in DNS.
