Accidentally removed system tools, multimedia and all other files from the
Windows Setup tab, under Add/Remove programs.
When I try to reinstall, it comes up with a number of missing files, and
prompts that I insert the setup disk, which is no longer any good.
System Restore is not functioning, and some video applications are not
working, as well as other things.
Is there anything I can do to resolve this? |

How did you "accidentally remove" items from the Windows Setup tab since
there is no delete function available or do you mean that you uninstalled
them?

OK, so you did uninstall.

Look for the folder containing the file BASE2.CAB which with luck should
be in either the C:\Windows\Options\Install or C:\Windows\Options\Cabs
folder, which depends on the media from which the system was first
installed. Once located when Add/Remove Programs | Windows Setup asks you
to insert your Win Me CD instead point it at the folder containing
BASE2.CAB.
This should get you back up and running, Post back with how you get on
and then I'll explain what you need to do to make a new Win Me CD and also
how to get system restore back up and running.

Grumble, thought I was moving in the right direction and a new set of
problems perks up. When I installed the new files, after restarting, my
computer was unable to pick up the internet connection. removing the files in
windows setup again allowed me to get back online.
Other than that replacing the files didn't seem to have any effect.
As for making a new ME disk, I don't have a burn drive on this computer.

I addressed the internet issue. I just needed to complete the Home Connection
Wizard or whatnot.
Files installed. |
