Since you provided no information about what might have caused your
problem, your guess is as good as mine.

Here are two suggestions:

1- Show your computer to a professional technician.

2- "How to ask a question"

Yes it is possible to reinstall Winxp without wiping out your data on the drive but you must be careful. Do you have a Winxp program disc? If so bootup from the disc, select install windowsxp by pressing enter, then f8, then it check for previous versions of installed windows, select the previous installation, it will ask you if you want to install it on that drive even though it sees another version of winxp, select yes, then select the option to leave the current file system (data) on the drive, the next oftion is to press the letter L which will leave wipe out your previous windowsxp subdirectory, but will leave your data intact. By the way you should remove all passwords from all accounts before attempting the reinstall.
