I have a Dell dimension 3100 computer and I'm trying to setup a Dell 1110
printer to it . A couple of months ago, on the same type of computer, I did
the same thing and it works fine. I add the printer and then click to print
the "Test Page" and it prints fine. I send a another "Test Page" to print
and it hangs ups in the print queue until I turn the printer off and back on
and then it prints automatically without me doing anything. I try doing
another "Test Page" and again I have to turn off the printer and back on
again and it prints. When it prints it says the Print Status: Printing.
When I try to print again the Print Status changes to "USB Printer status is
not available. I have installed and uninstalled many times. I have download
the install drivers from Dell and it continues to do the same thing. I have
had no luck in the Dell forums or knowledgebase to find out what is going on.
Can someone help me?
Thank your for your imput.

Right click on My Computer and select Properties. On the following screen,
select Hardware, then Device Manager. Scroll down to the USB
Controllers..... under the Properties of each hub, ensure that in the Power
Management section, the option to turn off power is NOT checked.

Cari,
I tried what you suggested and I continued to have to turn the printer on
and off in between each document to print. I have never had this happen
before.
Thanks for your help.

As of right now the problem is resolved. This is the strangest thing. For
some reason it was the cable. It was brand new. I started swapping cables
and printers. The cable works on the other computer and printer which are
exactly the same computer and printer I have. They both were purchased at
the same time. The cable from the other computer works just fine on my
computer and printer but the new cable which I purchased for my computer and
printer only works on the other computer.

Even though the problem seems to be resolved. Can anyone give me a clue why
this happens?

Thanks for your help
