I have a problem with icons getting rearranged when I change screen resolution.
I have a laptop which I normally use with a docking station. This is connected to two monitors as an extended desktop. Both monitors are set to their maximum 1280x1024 resolution.
Occasionally I use the laptop as a stand alone device. The built in screen has a resolution of 1440x900.
The problem is that when I change from the dual monitor setup to the built in screen, the icons rearrange themselves. I'd like to be able to lock the icons in place so that I can move them around if I want to but they'll stay in the same relative positions when I change screen resolutions. That way the layout will be the same provided the icons are in the 1280x900 area which is common to both layouts.
My computer is a Dell Lattitude E6410 running XP Pro SP3.
Can anybody suggest a way to keep the icons from moving around?

Some additional information
I found a program called Iconoid which locks icons in place but the author's website says that it conflicts with active desktop.
I use active desktop to display a calendar and clock on my screen so Iconoid wouldn't be suitable.
