resurrect users after windows re-install

i had to re-install windows xp pro on my laptop. All my programs are still there but not all of them run (Office for example). The cleanest way of fixing this would be to 'resurrect' a previous user from the previous xp install.

Is there any way of doing this?

If not I will need to reinstall all of my software which will take days.
