power/battery toolbar on taskbar

The power management "toolbar" (the little picture of the battery and power
plug) was inadvertently closed. How do I retrieve it? I tried opening the
"power options" window from the control panel, but the only option I found
for displaying anything about power management on the taskbar was "Always
show icon on the taskbar".
When I checked this box, a little plug icon showed up to the right of the
arrow that expands the hidden taskbar icons, but that is not the icon I have
lost, and it is not in the same location on the taskbar. The icon that has
always been there - and that I want back - is of a horizontally oriented
battery, with the amount of charge the battery contains, and beside that a
black electric plug, both to the LEFT of the arrow button. Can you help,
please?

What do you mean? What "UPS"?

I took an educated guess: Do you have a UPS? (If not, you should, but
that's another matter.)

The only Windows power symbol I am aware of is the one in the dialog
box. The one you describe sounds like it's part of third party software.

BTW: Windows cannot pre-determine the placement of icons in the tray.
Perhaps a web search will turn up third party software that does that.

Thanks! It must have been factory-installed by IBM. I'll check with them.
Could you tell me where I would find the "dialog box"? Also, what is a UPS?

Ive read back and forth trying to pinpoint the problem. I wasn't sure if it
has to do with UPS that stopped working in Power Option through Control Panel
and or from BIOS setting that I may have to adjust? I did have temporary
power outage in my town that lasted few hours and I do have multiple plugs
for appliacnes to plug into one outlet I have one of them plugged that for my
pc. I thought my pc would starts as normally. Instead it stopped in the mddle
before it would automatically load into window xp Professonal. Instead it
says in black screen stopping in process, that says "Hardware Monitor detects
problem. Go to Power Option to adjsut setting. It shows options for F1 or Del
for setup. I have to hit F1 every time I turn on my pc in order to go to
window or DEL look around in BIOS setting or utility but I don't seem to find
anything out of ordinary. Suggestion? I only wish for my pc to go straight
into window xp without stopping and hit F1 every time. Thanks ~XenaFury
