this message "cannot install the device. CIP single chip. The class
installer wont allow this devise to upgrade or install."

A friend brought his PC to me the other day because his IBM webcam
didn't work after he installed it according to the instructions on the
box, which involved using a CD supplied with the webcam. Sounds like a
similar situation to yours.

I opened Device Manager, which had a yellow question mark against the
webcam. I told Windows to re-install the drivers, it asked for the CD,
then the webcam worked.

As far as I can tell, the IBM installer did not install the drivers
correctly, but when Windows re-installed the same drivers, they worked.
Perhaps re-installing the drivers using Device Manager will work for you
too.

Usually (with USB devices) you install the software before you connect the
device. It will tell when you can connect the device..

I had the same problem. Here is the solution: After you have downloaded the driver from the Dynex site (or loaded drivers from disc) you must unplug/re-plug the actual camera. Your device manager will recognize the hardware but will still ask you how you wish to get the drivers. Click the "you will choose" (or however the hell they word it) the location instead of the "automatic" feature. And.......waaaaalaaaa, up will come the "Dynex Webcam Option". Click it, load it and use it.

Good luck............let me know if you need any other help with it.
