help! System restore corruption

Well, i'm ready and able to download any programs for logs etc. I just need help. I had tons and tons of problems with windows xp before i reinstalled it. I've seen a couple of users with my exact problems. System restore has been corrupted-blank calender, no ability to type in a name for a new restore point, no ability to click next or back after clicking "create new restore." I had problems with windows firewall being permanently disabled before i reinstalled. Web pages being diverted to random sites. Browser popup about antivirus software. And eventually the blue screen stating video drivers can not be run etc. So anyway i reinstalled windows xp home edition and deleted the old windows system folder. I reran kaspersky antivirus and found 20+ viruses/trojans/rootkits in my old system restores. Also my system volume information folder is not displaying at all. Even with the 'display hidden files and folders option in use. Please help!

You have a variant of the trojan/virus known as "antivirus2009", or "antivirus2008", or "antivirusXP".
Download and run the free software from www.malwarebytes.com
If you can't do that, get HiJackThis, run it, and post the log in the appropriate forum.
