Hello

I use Windows XP Professional SP3 fully patched. A while back I
installed a new network card (no software added by me, just the
hardware) which instantly connected with my modem & everything is
working fine ... EXCEPT that since then I always have a screen appear
when I boot that says "Welcome to the found new hardware wizard" It
goes straight away when I click on cancel which is good. Then a bubble
pop up appears from the taskbar saying "found new hardware" & I click
on that & it goes away too. Everything else works fine.

Is there a way to stopped these two intrusions from appearing ?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

=====================================

Usual procedure with network cards is, install drivers, shutdown system,
install network card, restart system,
new hardware wizard pops up to announce new hardware found, follow prompts,
system goes looking for
previously installed drivers, installs drivers, tells you the new equipment
is now installed and working,
Windows Hardware Wizard now does not pop up to say new hardware found. PC
happy - User happy.

Sure. Simply installed the latest device drivers for the new network
card. They'll be on the disk that came with the hardware.

Hi, thanks for the reply. The problem is I didn't get any disk with
the hardware.

Search for them by model on the manufacturer's website. Look for "Support",
"Downloads & Drivers", that sort of thing.

the hardware.

==============================================

Take the card out and have a look on it for a make & model number and google
it
to find a driver or if you actually find a maunfacturer name go to it's
website, click on
support, put in your model number and see if they have a driver. Download
and install
it then put the card back in and reboot. Procedure should go ahead as
outlined in my
previous post.

Many thanks to everyone who replied. I took the card out as suggested
to get the details & when I reinstalled it & started the computer it
automatically searched and this time found what ever it needed. All is
working fine & the pop-ups have gone. I'm happy !

Thanks again to Touch Base, Olorin, Bruce & JS.

Is this the best newsgroup in the world or what? You probably won't get
tech support like this over the phone! Thanks for telling us the problem
has been solved.
