'fighting steel' quits druing opening credits

I have a world war 2 game called 'Fighting Steel', which previously worked on
my computer. Now, all it does is shut down after the first credit runs. The
error sound comes up but no error message is generated - it just goes back to
the desktop. I have uninstalled & reinstalled multiple times but the problem
continues. I have run virus & malware scans, both of which turned up no
infection. Now what?
