| I sign in to msn messenger, but I cannot change my display name, and it says
'email address not verified'. I get prompted, click here to verify but the
page it redirects me to does not seem to be of any use. I was wandering if
anyone could help....

Greetings,
You will need to verify your e-mail address. If you'd like a new verification e-mail sent to
you, simply go here:
https://memberservices.passport.net/uiemailval.srf?id=507&ru=http://me...nger.ms
Sign in to Passport when prompted, then click the "Confirm Now" button and then the "Send
Message" button.

Ok, this would work, but I am using an email address that forwards all emails
to another email address. The problem is, it will not forward the emails to
my current email address. there doesnt happen to be another way to verify????? |

Jonathan,
I am just beginning to use MSN messenger, and have only 1 contact, my home
(wife). I have been using messenger effectively, but constantly get "e-mail
address not verified", which does not stop anything, but merely clogs up the
message screeen.
If you could show me how to either verify my home address, or get this
repeating notification dropped, I would appreciate it.
Thanks much.

Greetings Jim,
Since you've already been using Messenger I assume you didn't get the verification e-mail so
that you could verify yourself.
As such, you'll need to contact Passport Services and request a verification e-mail (form is
at the bottom):

I have the same issue as Jim with one of my staff members. email
verification has already been re-selected and it said that she was already
signed in...
So if it verified it already, why the reported message 'email address not
verified'?
How does she turn off this irritating canned response?

Hi,
The only way to 'turn it off' is to get verified. If you can't get verified, then contact
Passport/Windows Live ID services via the link in the earlier post.

Jonathan,
windows messenger works but my email address display also says 'email
address not verified'.
In order to verify my email address, I followed your instructions but I get
the following:
"Verify your e-mail address if you used your own e-mail address to create
your Windows Live ID (The e-mail address and password that you use to sign in
to Windows Live programs and services such as Windows Live Hotmail and
Windows Live Messenger; Microsoft services such as Xbox LIVE, MSN, and Office
Live; and anywhere else that you see the Windows Live ID logo.) you might be
asked to verify your e-mail address.
1. Click Verify your e-mail address. ==Do not have this option/button to
click !
2. Make sure the e-mail address shown is correct, and then select Send me
verification e-mail.
3. When you receive the verification e-mail, follow the enclosed
instructions."
Verify your e-mail address
If you used your own e-mail address to create your Windows Live ID (The
e-mail address and password that you use to sign in to Windows Live programs
and services such as Windows Live Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger;
Microsoft services such as Xbox LIVE, MSN, and Office Live; and anywhere else
that you see the Windows Live ID logo.) you might be asked to verify your
e-mail address.
Click Verify your e-mail address.
Make sure the e-mail address shown is correct, and then select Send me
verification e-mail.
When you receive the verification e-mail, follow the enclosed instructions.

Greetings,
There's been two new versions of the Windows Live ID site since this post in 2006, I'm
actually surprised the link works at all.
Head over to:
https://account.live.com/verifysi.aspx?mkt=en-us&rp=summarypage
Click the 'Send e-mail' button and it will send you a verification e-mail with the
verification link you click to get verified.

I did this verification procedure and it now says the address is verified
(this is for another email address not the one i'm using here to type this).
The problem still there, live messenger still shows that my address is not
verified eventhough when i logon to passport.com to verify it it says it has
already been verified...
what am i missing here?
thanks

Greetings Neil,
Yes the link changed a few years ago (note the original post is from 2006).
Instead, you can now send yourself a new verification e-mail:
https://account.live.com/verifysi.aspx?mkt=en-us&rp=summarypage
and if you're still having problems, you can contact Windows Live ID services:
https://support.live.com/default.aspx?productkey=wlid
After clicking the link, choose any option from the FAQ on the left, then choose 'Get more
help' at the bottom right, and then 'Get more support'.
