Article 925196 re problems installing iPod advises deleting UpperFilters and
LowerFilters (within HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM). However, I cannot - error
message "Cannot delete { ... }:
error while deleting key. I have full permissions. I can delete all the
entries in the sub key 'properties' except the default value - I cannot
modify the value - error message Cannot edit: error reading value's contents.
Any help appreciated.

Did you tried the safe Mode and try to have full control on that Sub-key.
If safe mode didn't help then try this tool:

nass,

yes I tried safe more and have full permissions.

Also tried ccleaner - did not identify these keys as a problem, and could
not remove.

Hi Mark,
Right click this Sub-folder and Select Permission and re-assign the
permission again then Reboot and see if you can Delete.
If still no joy then Rename it to something else and Reboot and try to delete.
HTH.
Let us know.

Thanks nass

added rights to properties subfolder and then (without reboot) could delete.
Unfortunately, removing these keys did not solve the problem.
Conneting iPod starts autoscan, which just runs - if explorer is open that
freezes - in facts everything seems to halt until unplugged.
Have previously had same problem with large usb memory sticks if full of jpg
& nef files. Any thoughts?

I recommend uninstall the iPod ( after backing up your Music) and download
the latest Version of iPod from here:
But before reinstalling the new download make sure you get Rid of all trace
to the old iPod package by searching or using the ccleaner to remove any
traces.
http://www.apple.com/itunes/
Also make sure your computer is clean from malwares and viruses then run
disk clean up.
What version of IE you have installed on your system now?.
Do you have a third-party toolbar installed on your browser?.
HTH.

Nass, I only bought the nano last Friday 9th March, so was downloading and
installing the latest software. Nevertheless, I have tried uninstalling,
using ccleaner and installing again, with no luck.

Will see if there is an Apple help option I can send the diagnostic/problem
log file to for comment.

Thanks for your advice

Regards

Mark
