I have recently had to reinstall XP & SP2 and have encountered a few problems.
I have changed the name of the user by adding a surname during the setup but
now in the Documents and Settings folder the old user name appears as well
but without all of the necessary folders. I have tried deleting this user but
it keeps re-appearing.
In the Documents and Settings folder I have "All Users", "Default User" "The
Unwanted User" as per above and "My Name User".
Can I reduce this to "My Name User" and a "Guest User" and if so how?

You can not to the best of my limited knowledge remove Default or All users.
but you should be able to remove Unwanted by means of control panel/users

Peter thank you for your reply. I understand from what you have said that I
cannot delete the "All Users" and "Default User" despite the fact that I have
not previously had a user named "Default User". Or at least it didn't show.
I still have an unwanted user with the former name of the computer owner and
each time I delete using control panel it reappears again. Any suggestions on
how to delete this user permanently?
