I am unable to connect to one of my computers (PC1) within a local network.
All the other computers within the network is able to connect to each other
and even the problematic computer is able to connect to other computers via
RDC, it just won't accept connections.
Whenever I try to connect to this computer (PC1) from any other copmuter
(PC2), RDC gives me the following error:
This computer can't connect to the remote computer.
The connection was lost due to a network error. Try connecting again. If the
problem continues, contact your network administrator or technical support.
As I am able to connect from PC1 to PC2 via RDC, I know the network is fine.
Additionally, running 'netstat -a' shows that the computer is listening on
port 3389. Not only that, running "portqry -n pc1 -e 3389" from pc2 shows
also that TCP port 3389 is listening.
RDC is enabled on PC1, no anti-virus programs, firewall exceptions for the
port is enabled as well.
Any suggestions? Thanks! |

Of course I forget to post the most important fact, silly me. I'm running XP
SP3 on all machines.
That aside, the registry fix has solved the issue. May I ask what may have
casued this error? Thanks again!

Thank you for the update. Update or 3rd party software may cause this issue.
