Hi,
I'm stuck in Windows Classic view. When I go into the display/appearance
page the only option I have is Windows Classic Style. If I try and load a
different theme from the Themes page I get an error saying the Themes service
isn't started.

The services page shows service set to automatic but not started. When I
try to start it I get the following error message:
Could not start the Themes service on Local Computer.
Error 126: The specified module could not be found.

So far I've run SFC /scannow and checked that Luna.theme is in the
system32/resource folder. I've also spent a few hours chasing various
internet threads but so far no joy.

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance...... Wombat

Hi Wombat,

See if the information here helps you to resolve the problem:

Themes (Won't Load or only Windows Classic is listed)

Thanx but I tried the various fixes from that site before I posted this.

From the error message I seem to be missing something that the Themes
service needs to run. Trouble is I don't know what.

To reiterate, error is:

"Could not start the Themes service on Local Computer."
"Error 126: The specified module could not be found."
