Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>customize (more info?)

If you click "Show Hidden Icons" in the taskbar, then accidentally allow
your mouse pointer to stray outside the system tray area, in about one
second the tray reverts to showing just the non-hidden icons.

If you keep your mouse inside the system tray, the hidden icons remain
visible forever.

I use a very sensitive mouse setting (so I can reach the whole display
area without falling off the edge of my mouse mat) and as I get older,
my hand sometimes shakes a little. This triggers the shrinking of the
system tray before I'm ready.

Can I extend that one second delay a little? I doubt there is a setting
in the standard XP GUI, and if it is in TweakUI, I cannot find it.

I'm perfectly happy using regedit, if that's what it takes.

Perhaps Windows should ask people for their date of birth, and subtly
adjust the UI behaviour? A two year old child might require more than a
second as well!
