Hi- This folder is missing. I read an article saying that the folder had
something to do with the Environment Variables section in sys. properties. I
may be way off base here but at some point I noticed 2 identical listings in
Enviro. Var.. I thought it was simply an error & that a duplicate listing
was there ( I know-I'm not using the correct vernacular but I'm doing my
best) so I deleted one of them.
Now, if this was a mistake on my part-usually is- can I recover that
folder or do I need to do an upgrade from my XP Pro disc? Make any sense?

This?

Environment Variable May Not Expand %APPDATA% to the Application Folder
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329308

%APPDATA% is
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\Application Data
or
%userprofile%\Application Data

There is also another Application Data folder
C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name Here\Local Settings\Application Data
or
%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Alan,

The Application Data (%AppData%) folder is hidden by default, and cannot be
deleted when the user is currently logged in. You'll get the following error
message when you try to delete the folder:

"Application Data is a Windows system folder and is required for Windows to
run properly. It cannot be deleted."

My guess is that the folder is still existent, but remains hidden. To view
the contents of the folder, type the following in Start, Run:

%AppData%

Also note that the Quick Launch toolbar does not function if the %Appdata%
is deleted.

Hi Ramesh-That works as far as showing the folder, & it's contents, but I
still can't view it by going directly to Documents & Settings (Alan or All
Users). Let me try Wesley's links.

What worked, Alan?

I am still unclear exactly what the problem was in the first place.
