Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>newusers (more info?)

Hi...
WIndows XP was/is installed on my computer btu somehow I managed to corrupt
the software. I was told just to reinstall Windows XP, then I had a problem.
The box, with disk inside was left inside a part of our office that is being
remodeled and no one seems to know where it is. The best guess is the CD and
box and contents were tossed when demo of the offices started.
QUESTION: How can I re-download my Windows XP? It is a registered copy and
I have all our company info to provide verification.
WHERE can I get help?
Thanks

Leo

What exactly is the error and what is shown as per verbatim as the error. There is
numerous fixes for this without re-installing the XP
Here is a few different ones as an example

Since you have your info to verify the original purchase, contact
Microsoft. They will, for a fee that's too high, replace your CD for
less than it'd cost to purcase another copy.
Actually, if you can scare up another copy of XP, as long as it's the
same version you had, that copy will work fine; it's the license that's
important, which you still have if I read you correctly. Just be sure
if you had Pro, to use a Pro Cd, if Home, a Home CD, etc. and you should
be fine.
HTH,

Twayne`
