OK....I will try once more asking for help! I uploaded the New version of
the IM, which was nothing short of blackmail, and although the download seems
successful...I can't use the damn thing. The new IM loads, sometimes with
contacts and sometimes without....but everytime it crashes after being
displayed for no more than a minute. I am using XP Professional and Internet
7. I am not going to pay Microsoft exhorbitant fees to fix something I
didn't break. The previous version worked great, so my guess is my settings
etc must be OK. Is there anybody out there that can advise....apart from
throwing this laptop out the window. The IM was not used for keeping contact
with Greedy Gretchen, but an important method of contacting remote work
colleagues (most are having the same problems). Before I resort to 2 tin
cans and a string....has anybody got a fix?

Hi,

Just a fellow user with a passing curiosity about greedy gretchen here. Wink

Why not just uninstall it?

I'm using version windows messenger 4.7.3001 without issue now I turned off
the IM shield in my anti-virus. What version are you using that is giving
you trouble?

You are a good man Dr. Del, thank you for responding! Greedy Gretchen is my
wife who I would sincerely hope you would have some respect! (No she's not,
first frustrated name that came to mind under the circumstances) I wonder if
Bill Gates wife came up with the name Microsoft (think about it). I have
resorted to 2 tin cans and a string and it works great....only 2
decapitations reported so far. This damn thing is unbeatable, I have
uninstalled everything...but MSN can fix it...all they need is a new
chandelier for Bill Gates house. God i wish I had money!
