My keyboard doesn't have an "Insert" key. (As I understand that is becoming
more common.)

My question; Is there a keyboard shortcut that's an alternative to the
Insert key?

(I do NOT mean "Ctrl+V" to insert (paste) from the clipboad.)

Thanks

What kind of computer do you have and what OS?

Turn off Numlock and press 0 on the keypad.

More common? I can't speak for all keyboards, of course, but
personally I've never seen one without an Insert key.

That said, I wouldn't mind not having an Insert key, since it's a key
that I never use on purpose, but am liable to hit accidentally.

So even though I have an Insert key here, I have it turned off so it
does nothing when pressed.

I don't think this is a common thing at all. I have yet to see a QWERTY
keyboard without INSERT (even if it's a shared key). I'd simply get a new
keyboard!

I join the chorus of the other respondents: I've never seen a keyboard
without an Insert key. However, assuming that you're sober and in full
control of your mental faculties [just joking!], you could use remapkey.exe
to drag the Insert key on the on-screen keyboard to an unused key, e.g. a
Shift key. You can download it from

That you can remap ANY key (even an "F" key) to work as the INSERT key
would that you are missing.

I ran into this same problem.

There are keyboards out there without insert keys. we all know that the insert key is absurd and that most people don't know what is happening when they accidentally hit it without knowing.

Anyway the answer that worked for me was to type Shift+Zero (on the keypad)

DO NOT BUY A NEW KEYBOARD that is the most ridiculous response that could have been given to this question. Come on.
