I just had to do a complete reinstall from scratch of XP Pro SP2. In trying to set things up again as they used to be and reinstall all software necessary and functions I tried to remove a "read-only" attribute from a data folder which happens to be in the root directory on the C: drive. Clicking on the check box removes the check mark. Apply. Ok. Then when I come back to check the properties again, the attributes have the check mark once again in read-only. There has to be some way to make it vanish.
Also -- while I can retrieve a file from another computer "A" on my network and bring it in to a folder on this machine :C". I cannot from any other computer transfer a file to that same folder. "access denied" ... They transfer fine between machines A & B (running 2000 and 9

, but will not copy to the XP Pro machine. Any ideas?
