Anyone know of some good file synchronization software between machines?

I've been using Windows Briefcase, but it tends to corrupt its database now
and then, can't be scheduled and requires a special top level "briefcase"
folder.

I've tried SyncToy 1.4, but it can't process empty directories . i.e.
rename a folder and SyncToy will leave it and all its subs empty. Briefcase
however will delete th empty tree structure.

I've looked at RoboCopy, but without a history of files, it can only mirror
one way and therefore can't keep two machines syncronized.

DFSR (within Windows Server 2003 R2) does a great job, but it requires:
a) all storage disks be owned by the server (so Windows XP is out)
b) the servers need to be in the same forest

Offline Files can only handle one source and one target. I wan't to
syncronize three machines.

Any suggestions?

I have used Beyond Compare for years. It's outstanding. I keep severla
machines synched with 2-3 clicks.

If you write code, it can handle revisions for many languages.

You can try SOALIB's Synchronization tool which is robust but cheap.
Please go through the site: http://soalib.com

I will add 2 more suggestions, both from Microsoft. One is somewhat a subset of the other, but both are good IMHO.

The one with less features is Windows Live Sync. It will syncronize files between computers that are on, fairly basic. http://foldershare.com

The other one is Windows Live Mesh. Mesh does the syncing that Sync does, but it adds a "Live Desktop" that's 5 GB of online storage you can sync with. It also has remote destop software built in (no need to configure a firewall). It has more features that I can't think of off the top of my head. http://mesh.com
