I have been trying to install the Epson 4490 scanner and as far as I get is about 60% of files are downloaded and then I get the following message: COULD NOT COPY FILES. CHECK THE SETUP DISC, THEN RUN SETUP AGAIN. C:\DOCUME~1\LEO\LOCALS~1\TEMP\\SETUP.INI. OK. When I click OK, I then get the following: AN ERROR OCCURRED, RESTART YOUR COMPUTER, THEN RUN SETUP AGAIN. OK. I have tried everything, contacted Epson and followed there advice which was to uninstall everything and try installing it again. I did this but all I get is the same message as mentioned above. I am at a my wits end. Has anybody else had this problem and were you able to resolve it?..Wishbone

Wishbone,
It sounds very much like an error or damage to the install disk. Look at the disk closely for scratches, glitches or anything marring the surface. Damaged disks in factory packaging is not all that uncommon.

If the CD is indeed damaged, Epson may just send you a new one if you ask them. If not, go to their website and locate the drivers for that device and download them.

Try this site for the drivers download:

Gave up on trying to fix the problem with the Epson scanner. I took it to a shop that has bailed me out in the past. It turned out that I had a driver that was locked as well as hidden but he fixed it in no time at all. Now I hope to start using this scanner as I have thousands of images to work on. Thanks for the interest you showed in this headache of mine.
Cheers...Wishbone
