Are there any (preferably free) programs for downloading video from
the internet? I have Save2pc-YouTube which works fine for YouTube but
not for anything else. I'd like something like that to get video's
from other sites.
Thanks

Youre pc doesnt need a 3rd party software to do that, youd actually spend
more time with such a critter than doing it yourself. What gains are you
thinking it might do..

The easiest and it's free, is to use the firefox browser with it's free
add-on's's:
"download helper" and "flashgot"
These both basically do identical tasks of capturing flash footage to your
HDD.
You can use one or the other or both. I prefer downloadhelper.
http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/220
http://www.downloadhelper.net/
Once you have downloaded and installed firefox, download and install the
above
or use firefoxes own add-on button (FF has many excellent add-on's).
Once installed, both appear as buttons in the firefox browser toolbar.
These can capture any flash footage - any site not just youtube.
Please note that they capture as flash files with the extension .flv
Or as MP4 video format which many site are now using (But not youtube yrt)
To playback the downloaded flash files, you will need a compliant media
player,
download the excellent VLC
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
VLC also has the basic capacity to convert .flv files to either wmv or
mpeg1/2
Convert only, it cannot trim/edit/overlay etc. But once converted any
editing app
can be used such as WMM for WMV formats.
To convert a downloaded .flv in VLC, whilst playing clicking the file button
then the "Wizzard" button.
These is also this which I have not used
http://www.flashget.com/en/download.htm
For all things video on your PC, this is one site you should bookmark in
Firefox
and add to favorites in Internet Explorer:
http://www.videohelp.com/
You are using the spammers/trolls favorite of eternal-september.org to
access
this site, so you probably know but best to explain for anyone reading.
Firefox does not intefere with Internet explorer, you can run either or
both.
Once you have installed firefox you will probably find it becomes your
browser
of choice, but you're advised to maintain Internet Explorer as Windows
critical updates are very fussy about which browser it will use. |

What pc program will allow you to download videos? Is there a
tutorial on how to just use your pc to download videos? How do I do
it myself without 3rd party software please?

You're out of your depth, and no point asking Andrew as he just answers a
question with a question, and he is a top poster.
In the task of capturing flash video from web sites your first step should
be
to format C drive. |

Hi, I recommed you sothink web video downloader. It can detect any video from internet, download and save them into your hard drive, like flv, wmv, asf, avi, mov, mp4, m4v, 3gp, rm, rmvb, etc.
I always use it! Great. |
