DVD burner only works on CDs now

My XP system has an LG DVD reader/writer. It worked perfectly on CDs and
DVDs for about a year.

Now it seems to only read and write CDs. If I put a DVD into it, it doesn't
recognize anything.

I've got the latest driver installed.

Any ideas?

There are two lasers in a DVD optical drive, one for the CD side and one for
the DVD side. Yours has either died or is very dirty.
