| What happened: I went to use the computer this morning and it worked fine. Came back to use it again an hour later and I couldn't pull it out of standby mode. Could not Ctrl+Alt+Del either. So I held the power button in to power off the comp. Started it back up. Seemed to be working fine. It got to the desktop and I had right clicked an open program from the taskbar to close it. It froze and the screen scrambled. Looked almost like TV static in a way. So I had to power it off again by holding in the power button. Now whenever I turn on the computer the fan in the back starts spinning pretty hard and it just doesn't boot. No signal is being sent to the monitor, although, the computer IS on obviously. I can open and close the disc tray. I unhooked all cords, demagnetized it, opened it up to make sure things were tight, and still wont boot up.
So the ultimate problem is there is no signal to the monitor, the computer is powering up but is acting like it already has processes going. The orange light on the front of it that shows when the computer is thinking will not blink once. Any ideas?????

| If there is no signal going to the monitor then it has to be either the graphics card/chip has failed or the monitor itself has failed. Try plugging the monitor into another computer to see if it works. If it does then you know it is the graphics card or chip. You didn't state if it is the graphics is controlled by a separate card or if it is embedded on the motherboard. If it's a separate graphics card replace the card. If it's embedded on the motherboard you could replace the motherboard or add a separate graphics card.

| I am not sure whatsoever if the graphics card is on the motherboard or not. I didnt even think of that. I will have to take a look. Thanks for the comment! |
