Since been forced down the IE.8 route by automatic updates, I am now
constantly getting an audio prompt "To clear your cache in Internet
Explorer click on the tools icon on your toolbar.................."

This audio describes how to delete the cookies and history in Internet
Explorer.

It doesnt go away when you clear the history or cookies, but plays
every time I load IE8.

Cannot find an audio file in the history folders to support this
annoyance, or indeed in the windows sound schemes.

Anyone else experienced this?

Two things to know about Internet Explorer 8:

1. It is a High Priority update, not a Critical update. Therefore, it is
not installed automatically, even for users who configure Windows Update
to install updates automatically. In order to get IE 8, you have to
explicitly agree to the installation - twice.

2. Internet Explorer does not have audio prompting. At least, not the
version that comes directly from Microsoft. My guess is that you
(perhaps unwittingly) turned on Narrator in Accessibility Controls.

Heck - I never experience a "forced" Internet Explorer 8 installation. On
my machines with Automatic Updates set to full - I had to agree to it. On
other machines, I had to choose it *and* agree to it. Did your system
administrator install it on all their machines - thus forcing it on you?

Internet Explorer doesn't natively have audio prompts that I know of... Did
you turn on some accessory (disability accessory in Windows) or install some
third party application?
